Gateway broadcasting link-local instead of assigned IPv6 address

Hello,

I'm troubleshooting connection issues with some of my IPv6 clients, it seems that they are not using the DHCPv6 address assigned by the XG Firewall, although they do list is as one of the IPv6 addresses available to them.  Instead they are using their link-local addresses.  As a result, the XG is not accessible via IPv6 from these clients and they are not able to access the IPv6 internet.  They also refer to the "router" (XG gateway) using the gateway's link-local address.  Shouldn't the XG be broadcasting its IPv6 address that I've set up in the interface settings and not its link-local address?  Could this be causing confusion with some IPv6 clients when they are trying to connect?  If so, is there a way to manually override this so that the XG only sends out the IPv6 address assigned to Port 1 like it does for IPv4?

Thanks.

  • Hi Ian,

Yes router advertisement is enabled on Port 1 (LAN) with:

    A) managed flag turned on

    B) other flag turned on

    C) default gateway enabled

    D) no prefix advertisement settings since I am using DHCPv6

DHCPv6 enabled on Port 1 (LAN) with appropriate IPv6 address range.

What two options being disabled are you referring to?

    Thanks.
