Skipping firmwares upgrade path to 17

Question

Hi, I have an 85 and 115 without a subscription so I need to download firmwares manually. 
 The devices are on 16.05.1 - They are already in production. 
 MySophos only shows me 16.05.9 and 17.0.3. 
 Is it safe to manually upgrade from 16.05.1 to 16.05.9 and then to 17.0.3 ?? 
 The devices show firmwares available for download (which I can't download) and those versions are 16.05.3 and 17.0.3. Does this imply I should jump to 16.05.3 (which I don't have access to) or just ignore that and go straight to 16.05.9?? 
 These devices are in production and an hour away - I don't really want to upgrade and find out they're bricked because I had the wrong version. 
 Can't find any docs on required firmware upgrade path.

 This question was asked to Sophos support several Month ago by myself. Their Answer was: Theoretically an Upgrade from V15 directly to V17 should be possible. They wouldn't recommend this (me neither). Sophos support recommended me to jump at least from each Major Release to the next Major release. This shouldn't cause any problems because within each Major Release there sholuld be no Features added what should cause any change in Configuration. In your case i'd do exactly the migration path you mentioned (16.5 MR1 to MR9 and from there to V17 MR3).
