Trying to find a hardware firewall for my home network?

Hello Good morning,

I am very new to this forum and I want to find out any information about firewalls and I am looking for hardware recommendation and also, software recommendation.  I will give you my back story I am currently running a mini network with four pc included I am not very technically inclined So I am doing some research. I have came across pondesk who sells firewalls. I am wondering are they good firewall or there is any better option out there for me?

  • Do what i did when i first found Sophos firewalls, setup a desktop PC with decent specs and install Sophos XG home edition on there and add an additional NIC so you have 2 NICs one for wan and one for lan.

you need a half decent speced machine to use all XG's features if you went the HW route and wanted to use all the features you would need to go for a mid range model which isnt that cheap.

    Anyway hope it helps.

  • I did it the same way, I built up a Computer with old components and the home licence from sophos. It cost me around 60€ but it works very well.

When the Systems runs stable and i am satisfied with it, I will invest in Hardware which do not Need so much energy. XD

  • HI John kerry,
