Install ISO/USB Image von HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen9 failes

Hi Sophos Community

I've been trying to install a Sophos image on a new HPE ProLiant DL20 Gen9 Server, for a while now.

Image: SW-SFOS_17.0.3_MR-3-131.iso

If I do a normal image with RUFUS (v 2.18) I get the following error:

"Starting Fireware Installation

Failed getting ISO Disk
press y to reboot"

If I create the Stick using the "DD"- Mode, the sever gets stuck at "Attempting Boot From USB DriveKey (C:)", with a blinking cursor.

  • The BIOS is in "Legacy Mode"
  • I tried several USB Utilities like "unetbootin" or the HP Drive Key Utility
  • I also tried burning an ISO to Disk and use a USB CD-Rom
  • I followed all threats I could find in the Sophos forums and also this guide: https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/126906

Server Specs:

  • HPE Proliant DL20 Gen9
  • HPE H240 Smart Host Bus Adapter
  • Firmwares at newest version

If anyone has a Sophos running on a Gen9 Server, how did you do it?

thanks a lot,

lauro

  • Hello Ian

Thanks for your reply. I currently don't have a suitable harddisk for the SATA controller at hand. Do we know if the cciss kernel driver ist integrated with the SF-OS image?

I have also enabled the internal AHCI SATA controller (B120i), burnt the ISO to a CD and tried booting from a SATA DVD Drive.

Same problem as when I use the DD disk creation mode: "Attemping Boot From CD-ROM" -> blinking cursor

Next try would probably be to use a standard SATA Disk.
