Hi folks,
I have been investigating why some of my devices cannot wander between the two networks I have, two different ISPs on the on the same XG.
I had assigned static addresses in one of the networks without thinking of the consequences. The DHCP server is XG global while the DHCP assignments are network specific.
So when a device with a static assignment in one network tries to connect to the other it fails to be assigned an IP Address, a lot of head scratching and angst. This is just a big an issue if I move the DHCP server to my local MS home server. Looks like a network redesign is required, need to think about this for awhile. I am trying to distribute the user load across both very slow ISP networks while sharing printing.
I have removed the static assignments for my mac book which means it will get a different IP address to what is assigned in clientless user group which makes reporting not that accurate.
I was wondering if some of the above applies to some of the other threads about DHCP not working very well.
Ian
