WAN Gateway VS Routing Gateway

Hello Everyone,

Can anyone explain difference between WAN Gateway and Routing Gateway? Also provide a use case if possible?

Thanks in advance.

Regards, Ronak.

  • Hi Ronak,

the WAN Gateway is the default Gateway assigned to a WAN Port (configured in Port Configuration).

maybe your XG Firewall is not the only Layer 3 Device on your Site and you need to reach some networks via a router which is reacheable over the lan port - than you configure static routing.

in some more advanced setups you'll need policy based routing.

the thing you called "routing gateway" can be used in policy based routing.
