Having trouble downloading a 600mb Quickbooks .exe

This is a Sophos XG Virtual Firewall. I am able to download smaller installers in the 100mb range. 

 

But this Quickbooks Desktop Installer keeps failing. It will usually download 1-20mb and then quit. I've turned off http scanning, ftp scanning, IPS, Web Policy, and Application control.

 

Is it the file size?

    Yes, Customer Support for any software company, and any internal IT department will always tell you reinstall.  This is standard procedure for clearing out as much junk in memory and other places that may be causing issues, such as the standard "Turn it off and on again."  They may also tell you to disable Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware and try again, but that is a double edged sword as the downloads usually don't come directly form the company.  They often come from a third-party service, and the downloads may legitimately be filled with malware or other issues.

    Your entire Firewall can't be at fault.  The Sophos XG Firewall is a collection of services running different things from network organization to Wi-Fi control to anti-malware of both incoming and outgoing traffic.  You just need to try turning off specific settings.  Click on the Firewall tab on the left.  Now, look at the list in the center of the window.  On the active firewall affecting this computer, click edit (it is in various places on the right depending on the version you have).  Set the Application Control to "None" or "Allow All", and click Save.  Once that is set, wait a few moments, and then, try the download again.  If that doesn't work, Edit the same firewall again, and set Web Policy to "None" or "Allow All", and click Save.

    Sophos does not have a specific block or issue with Quickbooks built into the XG Firewall, so the download must be using a different URL Sophos doesn't recognize or a third-party service that Sophos does not like.  Trying the two changes above may work.  If neither of those changes work, then QuickBooks has an issue with their download site, or your computer has an issue with the download URL.  Either your browser doesn't like the download link, or your computer has something running on it that is blocking the download (such as Windows Defender in Microsoft Windows).

    When you are finished, be sure to log into your firewall and change the Web Policy and Application Control settings back to where they were before you changed them.
