Consistency of using IPs vs Hostnames - In iView too!

Has anyone noticed that the consistency of whether the system wants an IP vs a hostname differs wildly depending on where you are? For instance: SFM wants you to enter an IP for iView Integration, but iView will let you enter a hostname or IP. Sometimes you can enter a hostname for logging, sometimes you can't. The one that really bugs me is that you have to enter an IP for email alerts in SFM! What?? Come on guys! Let's get consistent across the board..
