I would atleast put it in Mail Transfer Agent (MTA) mode
Overhere the SophosXG is recieving mail does mail scanning, drop spam and possible spam is in quarantine. Got a filter rate of 98% which is very good without false possitives in dropped mail.
For sending I send to a smarthost directly, I could send it thru SophosXG but I am 99,9999% sure the mail send is already clean.
my Settings
The RBL lists are pretty safe, All spam thats marked as spam after 48hrs will be blocked. Only new spam thats send within 48hr will not be on the lists but thats where quarantine does its job.
