XG Recommended Firmware for production environement?

We use 17.0.1 in two countries to protect a combined total of 2000+ devices.  Essentially it works, with the one caveat that we use RED tunnels as opposed to IPSEC VPNs

Can you explain in more detail what you mean by using RED tunnels as opposed to IPSEC VPNs?

I have 3 XGs for 3 sites that I need to roll out with site to site VPN.

RED tunnels can be configured for XG<>XG and XG<>UTM/SG instead of IPSEC VPNs, in fact they work a lot better, <1s connection time and reconnection works.  If you need any help migrating IPSEC to RED then I can assist.

if I create a XG<>XG red tunnel will all the internet trafficd from the second XG site go to the first, like a traditional RED device?

No traffic goes over the tunnel unless you set routes for it to do so, I'm not sure you could set a 0.0.0.0 but why would you want to?
