Sophos XG Firewall in MTA Mode NDR

We have been stuck on email protection for 7-days.

We are currently using Sophos XG Firewall (CR200iNG (SFOS 17.0.1 MR-1). We recently migrated from Cyberoam.

When the Sophos XG Firewall is configured to MTA Mode, External emails (Inbound) bounce with the below error message. Legacy Mode Works fine.

MTA has good email protection features we would like to utilize.

  • Hi,

my little experience with MTA was that it uses port 25 and not all mail servers allow relay on port 25.

I just tried using MTA again to validate my statement and found my ISP does not like the MTA when used either asis or relay enabled and configured, where the UTM as a mail relay to the same mail servers (ISP) worked without an issue.

The XG version seems to complicate setup of the relay function, yes I know lots of options.
