how to block the 3 main updaters : microsoft , apple and google ?!

hello

i am looking to block the 3 big updaters for everyone .. how can i achieve this ?

should i make a webcategorie ? application ? or block the ip addresses ?

what is the best solution ?!

    Hello Tarek,

    I would prefer both App and Web filert for best protection, Application filter would be second for your case and web filter would be last.

    I will not recommend IP base blocking. Now a days many company from different categories (Software, Finance, General Business) host/distributes their content which include software updates, advertise, video, image and websites  from content server provided by Amazon, Akamai etc where they share common IP address. By blocking their IP you will break many other sits.

    i am not able to find the app updates to block .. all i find is some adobe and java .

    can you please show me where exactly ?!

    Hello Tarek,

    Can you list which all update application you want to block? There is Microsoft Update, Google Chrome Update, iTunes Update, Apple OTA Updates are already listed under Software Update application category

    if want to block it for everyone what should the firewall rule be : 

    on top 

    Lan- Any - Any

    Wan - Any - Any

    then application filter only ?

     

    below that i set rules by user (or ip or etc )

    Hi TarekHalloun,

     

    You don't need to create separate firewall rule. You need to identify from which rule user are getting internet and update that webfilte and application filter policy.
