XG Home on old hardware appliance

I've seen a few posts about installing XG Home on an old hardware appliance, but I'd just like to get a definitive answer for v17.

Is it correct that I would need to re-image the appliance using the SW versions (not HW) eg using "SW-SFOS_17.0.0_GA-80.iso"?

Will the XG105w's built in wifi still work?

Will the Sophos dynamic DNS still work?

I guess the heartbeat checking via Sophos Central won't work - does Home XG work in any way with Sophos Central / Endpoint protection (paid licence)? Probably not, but worth asking.

Are any other features missing? No Sandstorm I guess, but how about the VPN features?

Thanks for your time,

  • Depends on your hardware?

Home users do not have access to heartbeat or sandstorm, all other features are included with 6gb and 4cpu being the other limitations.

Not sure about the builtin wifi, you could try and then ask the forum for specific configuration changes required. In practice it should work but you have to change so settings in the bios to install a home licence.
