How to open an Port by Sophos Firewall XG

Hello,

i've got a little question about opnening Ports at Firewall XG.

For Example - I want to crate a service with the Port 1234

So after adding a Firewall Rule - I switched to (Protect -> Firewall -> Firewallrule -> Services). Here I added the new service abc, which get acces to the Port 1234.

So I added a name of the service and the Type (UDP/TCP). See Picture below.

Why should I add in the Field "Source Port" the Value:   1:65535 ?

Or is this the wrong way to create a service?

Thank a lot for helping me :D

  • Hello,

Yes, this is the correct way. As source port are  dynamic and you cannot predict it. That's why you need to include all posts 1:65535  in source.

  • Hello there,

I have a question that is stumping me I have opened ports on firewall on XG115 for my security cameras and they work, however after some time the ports become disabled and am not able to view my cameras from outside of my network.

Am I missing a step or is tha an application issue with my cellular carrier.

I applied the correct port numbers and like I said they work for a certain amount of time and then are blocked?

    Any ideas

  • Hi Ricky,

probably your camera goes to sleep and causes the connections to time out? See if there is a way of stopping your connection going to sleep?
