How to reuse previous sophos DDNS hostname

I had issues with my sophos xg virtual appliance and ended up installing from scratch. I was using sophos DDNS and now I cannot register for the same hostname I had before. Is there time when previous hostname expires so I can add it back to DDNS config? Right now it still resolves to my IP, but im worried that my ISP changes my IP and it wont resolve correctly anymore.

P.S. It would be very difficult for me to hunt down every place I am using previous DDNS hostname and update with new one - I have quite a bit of things running on my home network. Taht is why I am trying to keep old one alive.

did you get this sorted, have same issue after a reinstall from a backup

No. Sophos support couldnt help either. Basically you are out of luck. my old hostname is still registered with old IP even though there has been no updates to it for some time... You would think sophos would invalidate (free up) hostname after it was not checked in by firewall for a month or more...

OK got it working seeing it is tied to a serial number. Restored config with correct serial number and all good now.
