SFOS uses the development build of React

Since we use React for some of our own software, I have the React developer tools installed in Chrome. Therefore, I noticed that SFOS is using the development build of React (see below).

Is there any particular reason it is not using the production build? I know that it can make a significant difference in performance.

  • ReactJS is used only in a few widgets in XG, so this likely has minimal performance impact, but it is something we should clean up. I've raised this with the responsible teams, and can update when more info is available. Thanks for reporting, Sam.

what does it say about the quality of the software engineering that's going into the product?

Very little. It's a bit of general housekeeping that should be cleaned up, but doesn't effect the firewall in a meaningful way, and doesn't reflect glaring holes in the QA process, or product security.

  • It says, at the very least, you should have a conversation with your build manager ;) probably, in a loud voice.
