iphone can't send out email

with the "Auto added firewall policy for MTA" rule on, iphone users cannot send out email using the mail app. Strangely android is ok and the desktops with outlook and exchange online configured are ok.

Iphone users are getting the connection to mail server failed message. In the details it has the sophos cert info. I tried installing and trusting the cert on the phone but still cannot send out mail. For now the rule is off and iphone users can send out email but I'd like to turn it back on and have it all working. Any ideas?

  • Had the same issue, issue with gmail for me as well. It is the MTA rule  anything on port 25, 465.

Add a firewall rule in position top (above MTA rule)

    Accept

    LAN to WAN

    Destination network FQDN entry of

smtp.mail.me.com (or whatever your smtp name is)

Works for me, you may want to tie it down a bit more by adding a service entry of port 25 and 465, I didn't bother .

But if you are not going to use the XG email function just turn MTA  rule off.
