SMTP policy where you can specify the sending domain

Hi,

We have the XG210 and we're having a phenomenal amount of trouble with email protection.

There doesn't seem to be a way to set an SMTP policy by sender by default. We have version SFOS 16.05.7 MR-7 but we can't whitelist sister companies and customers. The POP/IMAP policies seem to have both the sender and recipient options, but for some reason the SMTP ones don't.

Has anyone had success doing this on the latest firmware? Does any one know a way of editing the policies directly through the linux subsystem? That's not ideal but at least would allow me to configure whitelists as per this documentation  https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/123258

For the record... this is what we see when we try and create a new SMTP policy.

We've got a case open with Sophos but honestly the tech had trouble understanding us maybe and there was a lot of communication loss. There were some tensions in the office so I thought I'd throw it open to the community to see if I can get any pragmatic help.

  • Hi,

there are a number of undocumented issues with mr7 smtp mail at least from my point of view.

I would suggest rolling back to 5.6-MR6 if you can and try again.

  • Cheers Ian,

Unfortunately, it was shipped with MR5, and we had no MR6 software.

It was the same screens in MR5 anyway so perhaps MR6 may not have helped.

    Appreciate the response though.

  • Hi Paul,

you should have v16.0.5.6-mr6 in you firmware update waiting to be deployed or do you mean it came with v16.0.5.7-mr7 already installed. You can download mr6 and install that yourself.

It is not the screens I was referring to but the behavior of the smtp/mta functions.

I'm starting to suspect perhaps it's our unit that's faulty. Sophos support are running logging on debug mode to try and figure out what's going on so perhaps it's related to that.
