Sophos XP Fresh Install Bridge Mode - bridge interface shows down - no internet access

Question

I just completed a fresh install of Sophos XG Home. I am attempting the following setup: 
 
 Ubiquiti USG 3 ---> Sophos XG (for web filtering) --> Unifi Switch ---> Clients 
 
 I have set up the Sophos XG in bridge mode. The WAN port on the XG is connected to the LAN port on the USG. The LAN port on the XG is connected directly to my laptop right now for testing purposes. I have firewall rules for MAQ, and allowing DHCP. I do get a DHCP address, but I cannot do anything else at all. And the interface status shows red and down. I cannot even ping the default gateway on the USG, which happens to be 172.16.10.1 on this case.... I have tried getting this set up a few times with no success... can anyone point me in the right direction?

LOL so it sure seems like I just have to get frustrated enough to post on here, then I finally stumble on the problem. I am deploying Sophos XG on a VM, and I did not have Promiscuous mode enabled. I have enabled that and now all is well.
