Multiple Business Application rules using Path routing and same domain

Hi, I am a new XG admin coming from TMG 2010. I am building my server publishing rules and I have hit a snag. I have multiple rules on the same host.domain.com using path specific routing for my Exchange servers. In TMG this is no problem as the rule engine goes down the list until it finds a matching hostname and path. The XG is forcing me to work the same way with Exchange Templates for Autodiscover, Outlook Anywhere and Exchange General all using path specific routing HOWEVER, when I try and save the second rule (First being O-Any) for Exchange General it stops me with the red notice that I already have a rule using the same "Hosted Address; Protocol Type or Listening Port". Well of course I do! Is this normal? I don't really understand the point of path specific if the hostname has to be unique but is that what is required with XG? I have to have two separate host names for Outlook Anywhere and Outlook Web?

Thanks in advance!

  • Jason,

can you share what your needs are?

Did you have a look at UTM9 WAF guide?

    Thanks

  • Hi. I am just looking to publish the Exchange server web services. My question was two fold I suppose. 1.) Is my understanding correct that the XG does not distinguish rules as being unique when they are path specific, containing the same host but different paths? 2.) Am I required to separate my hostnames to use both Exchange web service templates?

That being said, the guide you were kind enough to share shows that it is possible to concatenate both templates into a single rule which would also suffice. So thank you for that!

  • Jason,

of course you can with XG use the same domain and host with different path. Oooo you have remembered me when I spent years on Isa server 2004, 2006 on a big customer. ISA server and TMG are still the best reverse proxy in terms of features set and deployment (even if they did not provide any security protection like UTM9 or XG).

    Nice time!
