Installation of XG Home - Segmentation fault, does not complete - any ideas?

I'm trying to install XG home edition on an old PC - I've created a bootable USB drive and I get "Installing Firmware" but then get a page full of "Segmentation fault" messages

I then get a message saying its going to use the installed SSD and identifying the appliance and asks for a Y/N continue.

I enter Y and it instantly come up with "device will reboot".

If I leave the USB drive in it cycles through this again with identical results and if I pop it out it boots windows from the existing SSD drive.

Do I need to format the SSD to ensure it's fully accessible?

Any other ideas appreciated.

(I've realised I've impolitely posted this before updating my profile - I'll do so now.)

  • To complete this case, let me note that Minimum HW Requirement for SW Deployment is 80GB on the Getting Started Guide. But the Setup requires at least 10GB and not those 80GB to let SFOS install on a specific Hardware. This means, we can install SFOS on each device with SSD >10GB. This is probably not supported by sophos but it works. As long as it's on a home Device, this shouldn't be an Issue anyways because we do not have the possibility to get support anyways.

  • Huber,

how do you deal with reporting partition?

Can you share a df -h from advanced shell from a system with 10 GB of HDD/SSD?

    Thanks

  • I don't have a 10GB Partition :) One of my homebuilt XG has something about a 60GB SSD:

    SFVH_SO01_SFOS 16.05.7 MR-7# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on
    rootfs 325.7M 2.4M 302.1M 1% /
df: /newroot: No such file or directory
df: /newroot/dev: No such file or directory
df: /newrootrw: No such file or directory
    none 325.7M 2.4M 302.1M 1% /
    none 2.9G 40.0K 2.9G 0% /dev
    none 2.9G 7.0M 2.9G 0% /tmp
