What does GA and MR means in the license section?

Hi,

I have a XG105, when I was trying to upgrade the firmware I noticed it has 2 options:

1. HW-SFOS_16.05.6_MR-6.SF210-266

2. HW-SFOS_16.01.3_MR-2.SF210-265

The type of the number one is "GA" and the sencond one has "MR" as it type.

What does it mean?

  • John,

every new major release will be in beta for a while and then when Sophos decides that the beta is complete, they move the firmware to GA, General Availability (Definition - What does General Availability (GA) mean? In the software release life cycle, general availability (GA) refers to the marketing phase when all commercialization activities pertaining to the software product have been completed and it is available for purchase.)

MR are the minor releases. So you can decide if to move to same version but a new MR or move to a new firmware version.

    Regards
