Live traffic/bandwidth usage per User/IP totals

Hi,

I'm looking to be able to view live usage per IP on my network but but also the summary of data they have used.

For example, I'd like to be able to see that right now, user X is consuming x kb/s downs and x kb/s up. But also, in the past month, X user has used xGb down and xGB up.

Further to this, is it possible to the the interface usage (both up and down streams) in real-time and overtime?

Is this possible? And if so, how?

I'm basically trying to prove the data that my ISP is claiming I'm using is incorrect. So need to know how much traffic is passing through my WAN port. I'd also like to see what users are using the most bandwidth.

Pretty graphs of up and download traffic would be good too.

  • William,

for current activities, go to Current Activities > Live Connections.

For history usage, use System Graphs from Diagnostics. You can see upload/download per each interface during last 24 hours, week, months, etc..

For user's report, use reports section.

    Thanks

  • Hi Luk,

    Thanks for the tips.

Just looking at the system graphs - it doesn't show total volume. Only total transfer in terms of kB/s.

Is there some way I can see total volume? For example: for the last 48hrs the WAN port saw a total of 5GB traffic, 3GB download and 2 GB upload.

    Is something like that possible?

  • I've just been going through the reports etc for the past half hour and cannot find a total data for a time period such as you are requesting either.

I seem to be having data discrepancies which is why I want to find this as well - is everything being seen.

Additionally, there may be an 'update period' for report data. I have transferred around 7GB over the past few hours, but only 800MB is showing.

  • Okay, so I'm not going crazy.

I have been going through these reports like a crazy person trying to find what I need.

I feel like this should be a very basic report. If it's able to capture web data and can get WAN traffic volumes, why can we not have total traffic per user/IP/device?

If XG cannot give me total data for a period of time, what can? I'm in need of something to fulfill my needs that isn't pfSense.
