Chromecast and A linksys wireless router

Hey,

I have sophos xg firewall hardware device as my main internet router. From there i wanted to use a chromecast to stream videos. Now in order to use a chromecast i got a new linksys wireless router.

How can i setup the router so that it can access the internet and also let the exisiting xg firewall give out dhcp addresses. I just want the router to behave as a hotspot, not as a router.

Is this possible?

  • Tom,

this depends on linksys, if it is able to work as hotspot or not. In this scenario, use another XG interface, configure a new zone, new ip on the interface and configure the linksys to use the new XG interface as its default gateway. Make sure to create proper firewall rules for the new zone. Remember that hotspot needs to be managed on linksys. You cannot manage Wireless features on XG using third-party AP (only Sophos).
