XG in MTA Mode with multiple WAN IPs

Here's my issue. I'm running in MTA mode and have 3 ISPs with multiple WAN IPs on each. I'll use one for this example.

My WAN Range is x.x.x.210 (interface IP) through x.x.x.214 (Alias)

My MX record is pointing to .214 which is an alias.

The MTA is sending mail out on .210 (interface IP) which seems to be causing RDNS issues for us.

How can I bind the MTA to send on .214 along with the other IPs I have associated with my MX records?

Thanks

Gary

  • Gary,

binding service to a single IP is not possible on current version. You can try by editing the Automatic MTA Firewall rule where you use as outbound gateway your ISP public IP but I am not sure it will work.

  • That's the ticket. I added an IP host for the external alias I need to send from. Then I edited that rule you mentioned and selected that IP host in the "Use outbound address" drop down. A quick test reveals that emails are now originating from that IP.

The next step is to try it with a host group where I can all MX record WAN IPs across all of my providers.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Hi all,

i have the same problem but on my devices (XG310 (SFOS 16.05.8 MR-8)) the "automatic rule" doesn't exist so I can't modify it. XG is in MTA mode and it receives email correctly.

I also have to send email with a specific public IP address.

    Thanks for your help.

    bye
