Secure email gateway.

Hello All,

I am evaluating UTM's and seems like Sophos XG and Fortgate are the top. I have some questions:

- Do I need to buy Sophos secure email gateway (appliance/hardware), if I have Sophos XG firewall?

-Does Sophos XG  have token authentication?

- Seems like Fortigate we need to buy FortiMail to get email gateway functionality. Is my assumption correct?

- I am planning to setup a L3 switch between Sophos and LAN with IVR.  All users get IP from DHCP and authenticate to Captive portal in Sophos XG that it tied to AD. Access policies on firewall
are created as per user groups. For this setup I would not need STS right?

Thanks

Neo.

  • Neo,

XG provides mail filtering but some features are still missing. If you have an XG firewall, try email filtering by creating MTA firewall rules and see if you are happy with features that come at the moment.

XG comes with OTP, so users can use password+otptoken to authenticate. STAS is needed. Otherwise you need to use RADIUS for letting XG know users.
