Firewall Traffic/Rules

Michael,

make sure you configure default gateway on XG wan port and that you can ping Netgear and google.com from XG.

Connect a pc to XG lan port or a switch and ping to google.com

Show the results.

My wan port is configured to 192.168.1.1 which is my router gateway.  I have the lan cable connected to my switch and I am wirelessly connecting to the sophos box on 172.16.16.8.  I am able to ping my router gateway from the lan, as well as google.com and 8.8.8.8

Can you share your firewall logs please.

thanks for the screenshot. You have to test internet connectivity even from your computer.

So I guess you have an additional Wi-Fi network bridged to XG LAN, correct?

There are no entries in the firewall log.

I think the problem is I do not know how to (Bridge) the Lan to the Wan when i am on the 172.16.16.0 (interface 1) LAN, I can not ping 192.168.1.1 (interface 2) Wan.

Hi Michael,

Check #1.1 in my troubleshooting guide and take a packet capture on the Source IP address. You can see which FW-rule ID forwards the traffic. If you are able to ping but the traffic is not accounted on the fw-rule then you have a different issue.

are you using your netgear in modem mode or router mode??

Ideally u should use modem mode and then use dhcp on your wan port.

What model is the netgear?

Also what is the ip of your desktop, Default gateway?  Also what is wan link manager saying in network?  The default firewall rule needs to have source rewritting enabled and the masq rule should be the ip of the wan port.
