SFP transceivers for XG310

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has used an SFP transceiver that is not an 'official' Sophos transceiver for their XG hardware?

Specifically, I was hoping to use an Intel tested compatible 1000BaseLX transceiver from Fiber Store,  http://www.fs.com/products/15464.html

    Hi RH,

     

    better consult this with your local partner/support for further clarifications, last time we've used a "not Sophos" transceiver we validated it with our local partner and reviewed contract agreements just to make sure if any hardware failure would occur, in the end they would advise us that it would work but proceed at our own risk. 

     

    we still proceeded to the installation of the transceiver, fortunately it worked for us.

    Unless sophos is not implementing any vendor-locking for Transceivers, basically every transceiver should work (on your own risk). Those which can be bought from sophos originally are produced by Finisair.

     

    I am not aware of any problems with SFP Transceiver. There have been some Troubles with SFP+ 10GBit Transceivers. That's why for that is an "unofficial" Compatibility List is existing, but for 1GB Transceiver something like a Compatibilitylist is not existing I guess.

    Thanks! I had a feeling this was the case and as usual tend to try things within reason. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

    As to our reseller/partner, I wouldn't trust their input as I have known more about the product/situation through this whole process. About the only thing they are good for is getting me pricing.

    I'll update this thread with my results.
