Hi
I have been reading about Email MTA mode etc and all i see is the assumption that the main server is inside the firewall. Our mail server is hosted externally, how does MTA help in that instance?

Jon,
you can filter Email using XG into MTA mode by:
For the outboud email, you have to forward email from your email server to XG MTA IP (so the traffic is filtered).

Jon,
I suggest you to read how MTA and MX works generally on Google.
https://www.wireload.net/news/2011/12/understanding_email_routing_ie_mx-records.html
https://dnsdb.cit.cornell.edu/explain_mx.html
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MX_record
This is a general behaviour and it is not related to any vendor.

Hi
I found a "How-to" guide.
It says switch to MTA mode and a firewall policy is automatically created.
The box arrived in MTA mode but the firewall rule was not there. Had to switch to legacy and back for the rule to be created. Seems like the default as MTA is only half done.
