HTTP ERROR 504

Hi Sophos Community

 XG 135 16.05.4 MR4

Here is the Scenario

We have an application on cloud.
We can access that application WITH OUT ANY Web policy.. NONE for WEB policy

But if we try to put some policy even the Policy is ALLOW ALL, the application is not accessible - and the error is HTTP ERROR 504.

I already whitelist the url app just to sure no blocking under SOphos XG firewall

How can i fix it?

Under watchguard firewall, no error has been detected/experience!!!!

Thank you

  • Hi,

I think the application server is not accepting the XG's proxy request. When you configure, "Allow All" as the Web filter in the fw-rule, the traffic is bound to pass through the proxy whereas, defining NONE will tell XG to simply bypass the request to the application server.

Create a separate rule as follows:

    Position: TOP

LAN ANY WAN (server IP or FQDN)

    Web Filter: None

    Hope this helps.
