Installation fails at "detected appliance model: SF01V_SO01"

New user,

Trying to setup the XG firewall 16.05.03 on a Dell Inspirion with an AMD 64 x2, 6 GB ddr2, 250 GB HD and Intel EXPI9402PT dual lan card.

Created USB boot from SW-SFOS_16.05.3_MR-3-183.iso using Win32DiskImager

Use the boot loader to boot from USB, begins Firmware, shows my SATA drive and gets to;

Detected Appliance Model: SF01V_SO01

This program will erase...

Do you want to continue (y/n)?

And promptly locks up.

I've left it for an hour just to be sure nothing was going on.

Any thoughts???

  • I downloaded SW-SFOS_16.05.5_MR-5-233.iso (XG Firewall Home Edition) and have a similar problem but with an Intel based PC.  Mine gets a bit further though. It displays a message saying Installing firmware for appliance SF01V_SO01  but then fails with a message:  "ERROR: Unable to install firmware".   Why would it be installing firmware when its a PC?

    This is my first experience with Sophos and not a very good one.  Not a good impression for me at all.  I'm looking for a replacement for a number of TMG servers I have installed at various sites.  Thinking of giving up on the Sophos option.

  • I too have the same issue.  I've tried multiple USB sticks to install from, and multiple pcs to install to.  It keeps giving me the "unable to install firmware" error.

    Anyone have any suggestions?
