XG FW + 1 Gb Fiber + Atom C2550

Hi everyone,

I new member !

 

I need advice because I can not find an answer.

 

I think build XG FW for home with mother board Intel Atom C2550 4C  / 6 Gb RAM and 2x i210 intel NIC.

XG with firewall rules / IPS / Filters / antivirus and maybe VPN (juste for me).

My internet speed is DL 1 Gb/s UP 300 Mbs.

 

The C2550 is it powerful enough or take other cpu ?

    I would say get better. I an running mine on a Pentium E2140 with a passmark of 869, and it maxes out at about 100 Mbps. If you really have 1 Gbps (lucky dude) I would go no less than a Core i3 with 4 cores and 2.5 Ghz.

    It may be better to have 4 Megs of Ram instead of 6 if you have only 2 memory sticks, as having them identical will give you dual-channel memory. If you want 6 Megs, make it 2 + 2 + 1 + 1, not 4 + 2.
