Device could not be synchronized

Question

Running into the above error after registering my device. I see some old posts that reference the error, but no real solutions. Can anyone put me on the right path?

 make sure that XG is able to reach internet correctly (use ping command) and the computer you are using to configure it for the first time, is able to reach internet too. 
 Instead, if the XG has already been activated and you are not able to synchronize it, you have to contact Sophos.

Reinstalling, as noted in a thread from a year ago, seems to have corrected my issue.
