Traffic Shaping

Hey,

Does http and https scanning have to be enabled for traffic shaping to work?

I have applied traffic limiting policies to certain users and for example if i give a user a 5Mbps limit they are still able to download at the maximum internet connection speed of 20Mbps.

Does the main Total Available WAN Bandwidth setting make a difference if its incorrectly set?

Also are the values in Traffic Shaping Kilobits or Kilobytes?

Is there a extra settings i am missing?

  • Hi Tom,

as Luk pointed out, KB (Kilobytes) = 8 Kb (kilobits), so if you have 20Mbps of bandwith, you have 2.5 MBps.

If you're using traffic shaping for users (added a TS policy to a group or a specific user), you must have a user policy in the firewall (the orange ones).

the other types of TS (web, app and rules) have it's tricks to, you must check your config, because the TS works pretty well on XG.
