Cyberoam CR50iNG auxiliary hard disk failed

I have an issue, recently my Cyberoam CR50ing auxiliary 320GB hard disk failed and I changed the hard disk with another 320GB brand new hard disk but Cyberoam won't boot up. I try to get support from the Cyberoam support team but they refused to help cause my subscription was finished.

Cyberoam throws the attached imaged error when I hyper-terminal to Cyberoam device. It seems the error is about the auxiliary disk partitions.

My question is can I fresh install SOPHOS XG Firewall using bootable usb or cd in my Cyberoam CR50ing new hard disk.

If not possible then how can I create manual partition so that I can use my Cyberoam device again.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi Govinda,

Could you try to reset the device by typing "RESET" instead of a password  and reset all configuration and signatures? This should able to resolve your issue . After the device is up , you may proceed with the migration process to SFOS

  • Thank You very very much Aditya Patel sir, it worked and now I can access and play with Cyberoam. Millions thanks. As well I do have some questions too regarding Cyberoam hardware appliance.

    1. Can we install any third-party Firewall OS like pfSense or some others in Cyberoam hardware appliance. I tried but no success.

    2. Can SOPHOS XG/UTM 9 Firewall home edition be installed on Cyberoam CR50iNG hardware appliance?

    3. What to do if my CF card of 4GB is corrupted or damaged and I need to re-load the firmware in Cyberoam hardware appliance? As the CRLoader will not be there to initiate the firmware load.

Hope you won't mind sharing the knowledge you have. Thank You sir once again.

  • Hi Govinda,

First, you cannot use Sophos XG for Home and UTM for Home on Cyberoam. The reason is the appliance key is unique as per the hardware and cannot be changed. XG/UTM for the home has a series of licenses based on the Serial number which is to be entered during the setup of the XG/Cyberoam.

The base firewall should work on your system (without subscription) and is capable of using in an industry of 70-100 user (no WEB/Application/IPS policy applied). In case your CFOS is corrupted then you may contact your partner or purchase a support subscription for our engineers to resolve your issue.

  • Thank You very much for the info sir. But what if I planned to no more use Cyberoam subscription and my CF 4GB card is corrupted. How can I use base firewall cause there will be no loader to load Cyberoam OS or SOPHOS OS? Can I use pfSense or any linux firewall OS on it?
