STAS and eDirectory not working

Hello community!

I'm trying to set up Sophos XG in combination with a Novell eDirectory server in a virtual testing environment, as I plan to migrate our customers who are currently using Novell eDirectory and other firewall solutions to a combination of eDirectory and Sophos XG.

I installed STAS on a dedicated virtual machine using Windows 7x64, which is in the same subnet as the eDirectory server and the virtual client computers I use to present the whole system to potential customers.

I installed STAS as described here:

https://community.sophos.com/kb/pl-pl/123024

The connection to the eDirectory server works fine:

However, no matter how often I log on to the test computers with various eDirectory users, they never show up under live users:

I get cryptic error messages in the logs, which unfortunately also use Chinese (Japanese? Korean?) characters, which of course I'm unable to read:

Things I have of course double-checked:

- correct IP-addresses for XG Firewall, STAS collector and agent

- correct bind-DN

- latest version of XG Firewall and thus STAS (SFOS 16.05.3 MR-3).

Of course, with all those errors, single-sign on doesn't work and the captive portal is displayed.

Is there anyone here who either speaks the language the error message after "Server operations error:" and can translate it for me into English?

Anyone here who has successfully set up single-sign-on on a Sophos XG in combination with a Novell eDirectory and can guide me a little bit?

Thanks a lot!

Peter
