XG-210 New Setup - SSL VPN remote users are unable to resolve network resources by name. DNS setup issue?

We have a new setup of Sophos XG-210. We migrated from a Sonicwall NSA 2600. Sonicwall VPN users could access mapped drives, network resources resolved by name. We have applications that need to connect via name and not IP. Current SSL VPN remote users setup on the new XG-210 are unable to resolve by name. I have included our internal DNS entry in the VPN settings but still not working. Any insights would be appreciated!

  • Hi Jason ,

    Option 1:

You may add a DNS host entry on your XG appliance. In order to resolve the names remotely via SSL VPN.

On the SSL VPN DHCP settings, you may need to add one of the XG interface address which is allowed over SSL VPN as per Policy. e.g. Port A is LAN and to access LAN  you would add a LAN pool say 192.168.2.0/24 and 2.1 is your interface address added to your Primary DNS server.

This may require multiple DNS entries and should be maintained.

Option 2: Configure a WINS server in your LAN and add onto the DHCP settings of your SSL VPN.
