Application White-listing in Sophos XG

Hi,

Do you have any idea how to white-list a specific application in Sophos XG?, for example there is one site that is getting blocked by the application control and then upon checking the logs it seems that it falls upon the application "freegate proxy", we want to allow the specific site but not allow the whole application "freegate proxy" because some sites that are supposed to be blocked falls under the same application signature as well.

Any thoughts would be highly appreciated,

Thanks,

Rap

  • Have you tried creating a firewall rule specifically for that destination host/network, with Application Control policy set to 'None'? It would need to be above your other LAN->WAN rules in the firewall rule table.

  • HI Rap ,

It would see the Website would match with an application signature , just to let know if you if you allow the Application then Freegate proxy will be also allowed . Now you may need to check if the website is related to the Website purpose or it could be a false positive  . Now you may create a FQDN rule and position the website on the topmost position and may allow in IPS/Application and Web Filter.

Let us know the URL so I may check and Provide a Workaround of the same.

  • Hi Aditya,

This is one good suggestion, i will try this and let you know of the results.
