Wireless Setup with Bridge to LAN - No DHCP

Hey all,

I have an XG 85W at a remote site.  I've configured a private wireless network and used the "Bridge to AP LAN" configuration.  Great, except that clients can't receive dhcp from our Windows server.

I know this configuration SHOULD work, because its working at our main site which has an XG210 connected to several standalone APs.  The main site is also using the Windows servers for DHCP and working like a charm.

Any suggestions?

  • Back in the SG days w/ integrated wifi you actually couldn't even do this for a 3? or 6 month period. Sophos just has weird crap that happens with very common things like bridge to LAN. Now, why you would need a DHCP relay if it's literally bridged? No idea. I have seen bridged interfaces cause issues too -- client didn't need a full switch, so I linked eth3 to LAN. Should be fine, right? It drops all NetBIOS requests, drops file shares, DNS requests, but responds to pings. Weird as hell.

Anyway, when using APs, you don't need this. When using Integrated wireless you'll need to generate a DHCP relay & point it at your DHCP server. This is true of SG, apparently XG as well.
