What Firewall rule to be used

Good Day to all,

We are using a sophos xg 105, i have a set of firewall rules as shown in the screenshot below

We also have this email hosted on a yahoo mail service provider. when i tried to configure one of our business emails to a pop/imap client the client can't seem to establish a connection to the servers both on incoming pop/imap server configuration  and on the outgoing smtp server connection. Is there some sort of a predefined or manually created rule in order for my pop/imap client to connect to the server?

Looking forward for a positive response, Thanks a lot

Jake

  • Hi Jake,

Why do you need the DNS rule when you can use the XG as a DNS with limited functions?

I can't see any rule covering mail in your 3 rules.

Some people shouldn't use computers without their reading glasses.......

  • Jake,

with the first rule, POP3 and SMTP should be enough to allow mail traffic. Did you have a look at what the logs are blocking/allowing?

The other option is to create a Business Rule "Email Client Protection" and to uncheck the box "pop3" and "smtp" and see if it works.

    Let us know.
