Logs and Reports don't corelate IP address and Device.

I am running the XG firewall at my house before deploying at the office where we have the UTM 9.4. One thing I am finding is that when I run a log report or an exec report it tells me the IP address of the device but it doesn't tell me the name of the device. Currently I have to open up a new tab and go into hosts and services to be able to go lookup the IP address and find out which device is being blocked or whichever the issue may be. I loved seeing in the UTM 9.4 showing that my Samsung TV was getting blocked going to twitter. But now it is just a mess of numbers. The question I have is, am I missing something that would link the IP address to the actual device on my network so that I can see the device in the Exec reports and any other reporting or logging? If not that would be a great product enhancement, or return of a great feature from the classic product of UTM 9.4

  • Hi Luk,

not all reports use the name, some reports use the IP address.

The question is why is he moving to XG from UTM? What advantage you see with the XG over the UTM?
