Random webpages won't load

I am using XG v16.05.1 virtualized on a VMWare ESXi server (running on a Dell PowerEdge R710)
All has been working perfectly for 1 year plus, up until Tuesday of this week.  (Coinciding with the Amazon S3 outage)

No changes (that I am aware of) have been made to the Sophos XG appliance, or the ESXi server - yet a good chunk of websites will no longer load.
A few notable examples include zen.co.uk, bbc.co.uk, yahoo.co.uk, and even sophos.okta.com (one of Sophos authentication servers)

I have tried restoring the config to one of a few months ago, however the issue still persists.
So I decided I would just disable the old virtual machine and create a new one from scratch.
However I have been unable to get past the registration screen as after completing the basic setup, I still can't load sophos.okta.com - suggesting the issue has not been resolved by creating an entirely new virtual machine!

I am using a Cisco 1941 as my router and Zen as my ISP.
I believe I have ruled this out as the cause though as if I connect my laptop directly to the Cisco, I can access everything fine.

If I look at the firewall logs on the XG, I can see lots of denied entries for "Local ACL"

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
