Sophos SSL VPN Client hangs for 7+ minutes during install

I'm surprised that I can't find an existing post on this issue. The Sophos SSL VPN client (current version, 2.1, downloaded from a Sophos XG 85 running firmware 16.05.1 MR-1) takes forever to install. It hangs for a solid 7-8 minutes saying removing existing configuration even though the Sophos SSL VPN client has never been installed before. I tested this on two different personal machines and three different work computers, all running Windows 10. Two of them (the personal ones) not joined to a domain, or anything.

 

This has to be a widespread issue. Anybody have any suggestions? It'll annoy a lot of our end users when we start having them install it at work if we have to deploy it with this bug in place.

    A coworker just deployed another Sophos XG at a different client and deployed SSL VPN w/ AD auth, and the Windows 10 machines there are hanging during the SSL VPN client installer for a long time as well.

     

    Has to be a widespread issue...Would love to see a response from someone at Sophos.....

    I just installed the SSL VPN client on 4 different machines tonight as we're replacing the Soft-Ether client we had been using with the SSL VPN on the XG.  These were all Windows 7 Professional x64 domain connected PC's, and none of them experienced the hang you are reporting, client took less than 30 seconds to install.  Not sure if that means it may be a compatibility issue with Windows 10, just reporting my results in the hope that it helps a little.

    I tested it on a couple of Windows 7 machines we had laying around that weren't in use, and it installs just fine, as you said. Every Windows 10 one we install it on takes forever, though. Very annoying bug...
