AP 15 - clients got only 72 Mbits

Hey, 

 

i've got a question about the Sophos AP15.  After using it some time i realized, that the speed of the clients is only at 72 Mbps. 

 

Is there any possibilty to raise to Speed up tp "N-Standard" (144 Mbps or 300 Mbps) ?

    Hi Mario,

    Use AES encryption in the Advance setting for the Wireless network. If that doesn't help please let us know how is your AP connected with the XG? Is the connection coming through a switch or the AP is directly connected to the XG. I think changing the MTU value willl make a difference, you can search for relevant posts to change the MTU value for APs.

    Thanks a lot for helping me. 

    Today i tried it with my laptop an this speeds up to 144 Mbit - which is very good. But all the other clients only get 72 Mbit. 

     

    And the throuput of the AP is about 10 - 20 Mbit... Which is very slow. 

     

    The AP is directly connected with Switch.

    WAN =(NIC1)=> Sophos XG =(NIC2 - VLAN,10,20) => LAN (SG-300-28) => AP15 (VLAN 20)

     

    I entered on the PROTECT -> WIRELESS -> Wireless Network Tab following things:

    Security mode: => WPA 2 Personal

    Pasphrase => XXXXXXPasssword

    Client Traffic => Bridge to AP LAN

     

    Encryption => AES (secure)

    Frequency=>  2.4 Ghz

    Time based acces => Disabled

    Client Isolation => Disabled

    HideSSID => Disabled

    Fast Transition => Disabled

     

    But i don't know why the speed is so slow. 

     

    Anybody got an Idea?

    Hi mario ,

    You may need to check your Wireless adapter , Could you check with different systems and Mobile Devices they usually connect with Lower throughput based on the technology of their adapters .

    Thanks for your sopport. 

     

    I've checked it with many different systems. The only System wich connects faster ist the mobile PC. It speeds up to 144 Mbit/s. but the troughput ist quite bad. 

    The transfer rate between my NAS Server and my Laptop (connected with WLAN) is about 6-7 Mbyte/s .. (about 48 Mbit/s)  ..

     

     

    Is it possible that using a VLAN slows down the speed ? 

     

    AP (VLAN20) -> Switch managed 28 Port 

                                                 ---> Sophos XG Firewall (on a tagged Port) (because DHCP Server for VLAN10 // VLAN20)

                                                ---> PC and some differen LAN devices (VLAN20)

                                               ---> NAS (VLAN20)

     

    Could it be possible that the WLAN traffic will be recieved by the Sopohs and this will send it back ? Or is it directly delivert to the NAS Server ?

    Hi Mario,

    What is the difference in connection between the NAS & AP towards the mobile PC & AP? I think #4 in my troubleshooting guide here, has a possible solution for you.

    iam sorry for the late answer. 

     

    I think an update speeds up my WLan.  But i doesn't know how it is possible to change the MTU.  The only Way i find out is where i can change the MTU of the network interface. Or is it the same ? (The speed is now about 8-9 MByte/s)

     

    But at the last days I got a new problem. After transfering a large file over the WLAN - some clients lost the connectivity. 

    => After some minutes ago, they will get connected again. 

    ==> Anyone got an Idea?
