PPPOE Connection with tagged (VLAN) traffic. Centurylink

I have a setup question. I have Centurylilnk fiber that connects over pppoe and requires the WAN port to be on VLAN 201. Ive added a the vlan to the WAN interface and im able to connect using the provided PPPOE credentials. However, internet is intermittent. Meaning that some sites never come up(speedtest.net) is one as well as other sites never come up using any browser. Looking in the Gateway section of XG, I see two gateways. One is the physical wan interface and the second is the VLAN port. Ive went ahead and disabled the Gateway for the physical (non vlan) interface, but internet browsing is still intermittent. Am I doing anything wrong? Do you have any tips?

Basically delete the VLAN, go to WAN interface and enable VDSL and put in your VLAN there.

After you follow Jacksons details, speedtest.net does not work correctly with web and application controls and fails with exception bypassing.

Can you ask your provider which MTU Size you have to use?

Sounds like the classic MTU Issue.

I'v attached a screenshot of my settings for CL. Make sure you delete any VLAN on WAN. I had same exact issue of speedtest.net failing and web pages being very intermittent. After I put the WAN on VDSL VLAN 201 instead of creating a new zone with VLAN on WAN interface, everything worked perfectly.

Keep the MTU/MSS at default of 1500/1452. Per Sophos, the MTU gets reduced to 1492 on PPPoE connections.

Speedtest.net fails even when exceptions are in place because it has latency errors. Needs a specific firewall rule with using the web proxy at all.
