what is the difference between MTA mode and logical mode
Gmael,
intp mta mode, XG can listen to email on smtp/s and send them to an internal server and do the same into the reverse order.
So in this way XG can filters smtp/s connections already.
Mta stands for message transfer agent and it is a standard.
Into legacy mode, XG does act as an mta, but is is transparent. You cannot set it to listen on public ip to listen to smtp traffic but it is used to filter imap/pop3 inbound traffic and outbound smtp traffic silently.
