System does not boot after install

Hello,

Something very strange. I decided to not go with a VM of XG but a Physical machine.

I am using a HP Proliant DL 360 Gen 6.

It has a P410i raid controller. Running 4 120gig SSD drives. (raid 5 one  on line spare)

It sees the 240 gig drive / volume. Installs, formats the various partitions during the install and installs fine.

Reboot and the system is not booting from the drive. Boot sequence and boot controller are set up correctly to boot from the P410i controller.

Any ideas or thoughts? If XG and it's Linux kernel did not like or support the P410i I assume it would not see it or install.

  • Hello,

I tried installing UTM and then even Cent OS. The installs see the 240gig volume and the installs go just fine, just on reboot they do not boot from the raid 5 volume / disk.

My guess is if it is an issue on the motherboard or the P410i controller, hardware issue or some jumper or bios setting that is not letting it see and boot from it.

Was able to set up the RAID volume just fine with the p410i and everything.  Need to buy different set of cables and can try a HP P800 smart controller I have if it is just a controller issue.

See when I have time to work more on the server and figure it out, else time to get on e-bay and look for another DL360 gen 6 to replace this one with.

Is anyone using any Gen 6 or Gen 7 HP servers for their firewall of XG?
