System sudden freeze no cpu and memory usage but still working

Every 4-5 days the XG Firewall suddenly stops working and you cannot also have access to the Web Interface. At this time the system is not accessible through the web interface, it is not delivering any service but you can ping it and it is also recording logs as it appears on the attached image. The system gets back online after a hard reset only.

  • Do you have any syslog server, where you send Logfiles to? This would be needed for further troubleshooting since XG Firewall is not capable to store Logfiles on it's disk after an outage.

How many GB of memory did you allocate to this device? Your Memory usage somehow looks higher than it's healthy. In UTM environments we know out of expirience, that a Memory usage higher than 85% is causing various strange phenomenons. Due to lack of expirience, I can't say if this is also the case on XG Firewall...

When Web Interface is unaccessible, have you tried to connect to the Firewall via SSH? Did this work?

  • The system is connected to an iView v2 server but as I told you the system records logs as it seems on the chart. Next time it occurs I will try the SSH access
