SSL VPN issue with ShoreTel Communicator Softphone

I have had a case open with support for about 2-3 weeks now but I figured I'd throw it out here too. I have a client that I migrated from a Cyberoam 25ia to an XG 125. They use SSL VPN which is mostly working on the XG. They have an internal ShoreTel phone server. They have some users that use the desktop client (Communicator) as a soft phone to make calls from there computer. This was not an issue on the Cyberoam SSL VPN, but on the Sophos it doesn't work. The ShoreTel desktop client connects, but the software cycles between "On Hook" and "Off Hook" and is unable to make any calls. As of today, support has gotten to the point that they want me to setup an L2TP for this user. Has anyone had a similar issue? Either way I wanted to get this in the community so if we do find a fix someone may find it in the future.

  • Hi,

Could you check with the following settings ?

Default gateway should be enabled if you wish for a full tunnel and disabled for the split tunnel.  Rules LAN to VPN and VPN to LAN and test with the Set of Rules mentioned below.

    Option 1

    LAN to VPN --no nat

    VPN to LAN --NAT

    Option 2

    LAN to VPN --no nat

    VPN to LAN --no nat

If you are able to register your device on the VOIP server and able to hear on one end and not the other. Try to disable the SIP and H323 modules from console option 4.

    Command:

     console >system system_modules sip unload

     console >system system_modules h323 unload

Re-initiate the connection of the SSL VPN and check if this would resolve your issue.

If this still does not resolve this issue, please provide us the packet capture to analyze them.
