RED 15W configuration

hey all,

I am working with an XG210. I have successfully used RED 15 devices and now I'm attempting to configure a RED 15W.

I've configured the RED port just as before.  The RED 15W pulled down its config and has successfully connected to the XG.

The issue is the wireless configuration.  First, my laptop is not able to detect any wireless networks that appear to be coming from the RED.  Next, I have been unable to find any documentation showing how to configure this device on the XG.

I've seen some references in UTM-based documents indicating that it should be configured under Wireless > Wireless Networks tab.  In there, I have two default networks, one being called Sophos.  its turned on and is set to Bridge to AP LAN.

Under Wireless > Access Points I have checked the "Pending Access Points" section but nothing is listed.

That's the best I can come up with trying to piece together UTM documentation with the XG interface, but its not working.  Any hints, tips, suggestions, or walkthroughs would be greatly appreciated.

  • Zane,

It should work as the built-in wifi on XGw models.

do you see something inside the log?

Try to enable the wireless on red zone under administration > device access.

    Thanks

  • Hey Luk,

I checked the logs and I see absolutely nothing relating to wireless. I'm viewing logs for System and changing the Log Comp to Wireless Protection.

under Administration > Device Access, are you saying I should enable Wireless Protection for the LAN zone, where I have placed my RED ports?  If so, I already have that setting turned on.

  • I had exactly the same problem with my XG125 and RED15w. I forgot to add Access Points that is linked to the Wifi network(Wireless > Access points). After that the Wifi was visible. I hope this answer will help some one else.
